Biography/History
 
     Reef Marketing Associates was established in 1983 by me, James T. Serano. I perceived a need of middle class employees of School Systems and non-profit organizations for competent financial planning and sound financial advice. I had worked for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the National Foundation- March of Dimes during the 70's and early 80's. I learned while working for these non-profit organizations that there were alternative ways to save money for my retirement and at the same time lower my current federal and state income taxes.

    My clients tend to fall into 4 basic categories with slight variations:

    The first category of clients are trying to save enough money for a down payment on their first home and are usually 25-35 years old.

    The second category are clients who are needing money to pay for college for their children and range in ages from 35-45 years old.

    The third category are clients thinking about retirement on the horizon and fearful that they will not be able to retire comfortably, they range in age from 45-60 years old.

    The 4th category are already retired and want to continue to live comfortably. They are usually looking for safety of their principal with the ability to keep up with inflation. To date, I have over 700 clients in various categories. To serve my clients better I have a Life & Health license with the Dept. of Insurance, a Series 7 Securities license placed with Aragon Financial Services and a Mortgage Broker's license with the Department of Corporations. I consider myself as a Personal Financial Planner who tailor makes a plan to fit your needs.

    I meet on a regular basis with my clients so that individual needs may be reassessed as the planning continues to evolve.  I've enclosed real referrals of real clients with their pictures, so that you can see for yourself.

    If you are wondering about the name of the business, "REEF MARKETING ASSOCIATES", I took the name of the street that I was living on when I filed a DBA in 1983, REEF STREET in MARINA DEL REY, CA.
